F*#K Your Backup Plan!

One of things I like about this blog is that there is no reason whatsoever for me to ever hold back from sharing my crazy thoughts or ideas with the world, and some my say that this is one of them. In this article, I’m going to talk about “backup plans” sometimes referred to as a “plan B”. Personally, I call them “limiters”.

A limiter is something that you are actively pursuing to do in your day-to-day life that doesn’t get you any closer to your primary/main goal. This differs from a limiting belief as limiting beliefs aren’t usually actively pursued or worked towards. Meanwhile, limiters are actively worked towards usually on a daily basis, and in doing so, they limit you from completing or even working towards your main goal.

Backup plans are the PERFECT example of limiters. This is because all a backup plan does is take your focus away from your primary goal. Even if it is just a few days per week, you are losing precious time that could be used to work towards your primary goal. The goal that if you complete, you will be fully fulfilled, have an awesome life, and be doing what you want to do. A backup plan by it’s very nature does not accomplish this.

One of the most important things that I’ve done in my own entrepreneurial journey is giving myself no backup plan. No incentive to fail or give up. Nothing to take away from my primary focus of being my own boss, generating wealth, and living an overall freaking awesome life. If you have nothing to fall back on, you have no option but to be successful and complete your goals and make your dreams a reality.

However, if you have a backup plan you have a reason to fail. You have a place to give up and go to. You have something that takes your focus away, and stop you from putting all of your time towards your “main” plan – which isn’t really your main plan if you’ve got a backup plan. Your main plan is where you’re spending the majority if not 90% or more of your time, and if you’re pursuing a backup plan, I guarantee it is taking much more time than your primary goal or focus.

This concept is something that I think everyone needs to at least realize exists. All backup plans do is give you a reason to fail and stop working towards what you really want. If you want to achieve greatness and be the best you that you can be accomplishing your goals and kicking ass, then you need to have one focus, and I promise that focus shouldn’t be what you’ll do if your “primary” goals don’t work out. Your one focus should be on accomplishing and achieving the lifestyle that you want to live. If it’s not, you never will have it. You. Can. Do. It.
